Read Introduction to 1 Peter

For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.”

For this is commendable

The word “commendable” is the Greek word for grace. God gives grace in suffering that he might bless us in the suffering. We could translate “commendable” as “favor.”

PRINCIPLE:

We find favor with God when we endure suffering from God’s grace.

APPLICATION:

We find favor with God when we endure suffering graciously. This is life on a higher plane than those without Christ. This delights the heart of God, for this is grace.
