“For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.”
“Suffering” denotes whatever one suffers in any way. It means to undergo difficult experiences.
“Wrongfully” indicates undeserved suffering.
God gives us the grace to suffer wrongfully.
God designs most suffering for blessing. The one exception is suffering because of sin. When a Christian confesses his sin (I Jn. 1:9) God removes that exception. God then turns the cursing into a blessing even though the suffering may continue (Heb. 12:6) but its purpose changes. The unbeliever will suffer in eternity. The believer will not suffer in eternity (Rev. 21:4). There is no suffering too great for God to handle.
