“Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.”
as to a faithful Creator
We can trust God to be trustworthy and reliable (1 John 1:9). Because we can trust God, we can place our complete confidence in him. Therefore, he is worthy of our belief and trust. God is eternally dependable and reliable.
Lam 3:22-23, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.”
1 Co 1:9, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
1 Co 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
2 Co 1:18, “But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No.”
1 Th 5:24, “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
2 Ti 2:13, “If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.”
He 10:23, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
He 11:11, “By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”
1 Jn 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
“Faithful Creator” points to his promises and character. God will fulfill his promises without fail. Men make promises they cannot keep because they are neither dependable nor able to carry them out. As our Creator, God is responsible for maintaining what he created. He is dependable. We can “bank” on him!
PRINCIPLE:
We can commit ourselves to God because he is faithful.
APPLICATION:
We can trust God to do right in the end. We can give the destiny of our lives to God for safekeeping. If we can trust him with our eternal life, why can we not trust him with our temporal life? God will not fail us if we trust him. If we can trust men with a sense of responsibility, how much more God?
Our souls are “in good hands.” Child of God, if you suffer today, if your body is racked with pain, if you are discouraged, depressed, and distressed, if you are at the extremity of your situation, put your soul in God’s hands. He is a good banker, and he will take care of his own. He will sustain you and enable you. He will see you through.
