Read Introduction to 2 Peter

“For so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

into the everlasting kingdom

Jesus challenged his disciples to pray that the kingdom will come and God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven,

Mt 6:10, Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.”

God has not answered this prayer yet. God will answer it when Jesus comes back. Then He will set up His kingdom on earth. At that time, His purpose will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God will enforce the King’s will on earth in time. Jesus has not yet reigned in His kingdom. One day He will. Christians will reign with Him. This will change our careers.

Re 3:21, “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”

This kingdom will not come through the church; it will arrive through the coming of Christ. Oh, what a day it will be!!

Presently Satan is the god of his world (2 Co 4:4; Ep 2:2; 1 Jn 5:19). One day, Jesus will be King Jesus, King of the World.

Is 9:6-7, “For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7  Of the increase of His government and peace

There will be no end,

Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,

To order it and establish it with judgment and justice

From that time forward, even forever.

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

Je 23:5, “‘ Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord,

‘That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;

A King shall reign and prosper,

And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.’

Re 11:15, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!'”

The day of Christ’s kingdom will be a day of divine monarchy, not democracy. Jesus will reign as King Jesus, King of the world. He will not need a Parliament or Congress. He will make unilateral decisions. His headquarters will be in Jerusalem, not Beijing or Washington. Maybe someone should inform the United Nations of this event!

Ps 72:8, “He shall have dominion also from sea to sea,

And from the River to the ends of the earth.”

PRINCIPLE:

Jesus will bring perfect government in time and on earth.

APPLICATION:

All the crimes and distortions of life without a King will be corrected in the kingdom. For the first time in the checked history of governments of this world, Jesus will establish perfect government. No one will lock their car or house. In the meantime, get all the extra locks you can!

The Rapture will trigger a series of prophetic events beginning with the tribulation and ending in our Lord Jesus Christ’s millennial kingdom. Finally, at the end of His kingdom, He will usher in the “everlasting kingdom.”

Have you inherited the kingdom of God at some point in your life today?

Eph 5:5, “For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.”

Only those who have had a second birth, a spiritual birth, will enter the kingdom.

Jn 3:3, “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

We are born again only through belief in the death of Christ for our sins.

Co 1:13-14, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
