Read Introduction to 2 Peter

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

this one thing

Peter asks his reads to focus on one tenet. We need to focus on the principle of God’s essence. God’s essence does not operate on human timetables. He operates on His own timetable. We need to be patient in our understanding of how God operates. We should understand that God will fulfill His promises in His own good time.

PRINCIPLE:

Christians need to learn how to focus on the most important principles of life.

APPLICATION:

We spread our goals for in so many directions that we cannot say “this one thing” I do. We are spread so thin that we cannot focus on the most important.

Ph 3:3 “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Christians should be careful not to forget about the essence of God for His essence is the foundation for creation and His purposes in the world.
