“I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one.”
I have written to you, young men,
John appeals to young men based on their energy and strength. The previous verse said that the “young men” “overcame the wicked one.” This verse shows how they did it.
Because you are strong,
These young men developed spiritual strength.
PRINCIPLE:
God makes available to us strength beyond our natural strength.
APPLICATION:
God wants us to be as strong spiritually as we are physically. Some of us would land in the hospital if our physical strength were as strong as our spiritual strength. God wants us to be strong in Him.
