Read Introduction to Matthew

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

25:37

Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?

It puzzled the disciples in Jesus’ day that they met His needs in the way He described.

25:38

When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?

The disciples could not identify when Jesus was a stranger, naked, or in need of clothing.

25:39

Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’

They could not recognize a time when Jesus was sick or in prison when they came to help Him.

25:40

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

Believers in the Tribulation and especially in the last three-and-a-half years of the Tribulation will have need for basics of food, shelter, and protection. The principle is that, by meeting the physical needs of these brethren, we show love for Christ.

PRINCIPLE:

What we do for brothers in Christ, we do for Christ.

APPLICATION:

What we do for the least of fellow believers, we do for Christ.

He 2:11  For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
