Read Introduction to Romans

34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”

Or who has become His counselor?”

No one gives God advice on how to determine the ultimate purpose or best ends of creation. Mankind does not have the capacity to tell God how to run the universe. God never asks for help from man about how to do things.

Job’s counselors gave him dark counsel:

Job 38:2, “Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?

PRINCIPLE:

God is the only One who can give counsel to His thoughts.

APPLICATION:

People try constantly to make God in the image of man. God is completely unique; He is the great unlike and cannot be reduced to something like man. He is not an extension of who and what we are. Many dimensions of God are beyond our ability to apprehend or capacity to find.

The church today has lowered her concept of God from a lofty picture of Him to one who is ignoble, glorified man. If Christians get their view of the Christian life from a proper view of their God, the Christian life will look very different from what it is today. Christians today need a majestic view of God to worship properly. Believers never rise higher than their concept of God. A low view of God will produce low living.
