The primary role of the leader of the local congregation is pastor-teacher. He is “to teach” (1 Ti 3:2). He is to be faithful to the Word of God by teaching sound doctrine (Ti 1:9). It is imperative for him to pay close attention to his teaching (1 Ti 4:16).

God leads others in the congregation to teach as well. The gift of teaching is not limited to professionals.
