8 but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,
a lover of what is good [things],
The words “lover of what is good” is one word in the Greek, and it occurs only in this verse. A leader must love virtue. He should love what God wants His followers to be.
PRINCIPLE:
A leader devotes himself to what is right.
APPLICATION:
We need the ability to distinguish between good and bad. We live in a society that knows less and less about more and more. Nothing is black or white; everything is grey. God wants the leader to love virtue,
Php 4: 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
