15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well [healed him].
The ex-paralytic went directly to the Jewish officials to tell them who healed him. He at last told the religious leaders that it was Jesus who healed him. This man knew that the Jews were antagonistic towards Jesus but he feared these people more than he respected Jesus. His ingratitude was astounding in the light of his decades living with paralysis. His primary value was to defend himself against accusation rather than value who Jesus was. He was all about saving his own skin.
Because the former paralytic turned Jesus in to the Jews, from this point forward the bloodhounds began to sniff the trail of Jesus.
PRINCIPLE:
Failure to put priority on the most important things causes distortion in our lives.
APPLICATION:
The healed man’s only response to Jesus’ exhortation was to report him to Jewish authorities. Open opposition to Jesus began by someone with ingratitude.
