22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,
In verses 22 and 23, the Son is entrusted to judge with all authority.
22 For
This fourth “for” from verse 19 shows the implications of the Son’s relationship to the Father. The Father and Son have distinctive roles.
the Father judges no one,
The Father does not directly judge; all His judgment is through the Son.
but has committed all judgment [discrimination] to the Son,
The idea is that the Father gave the evaluation process to the Son. The Son has the supreme right to grant spiritual life to those who believe on Him. The Father never acts separately from the Son when it comes to judgment.
PRINCIPLE:
Final judgment is in the hands of the Son.
APPLICATION:
Final judgment is an act of God. The Son carries the right from God to make executive judgment. The Son must have absolute knowledge and perfect justice to execute true judgment. He will need to judge motives to do this. He has the sovereign right of God to complete judgment on men. He has equality to the Father on this (2 Th 1:7-8; Ac 17:31).
The Son bestows spiritual life. He also has the infallible ability to judge who can receive eternal life and who does not. He has sovereign power equal to the Father Himself.
