27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
In verses 27 to 30 Jesus spoke of His relation to men in the future.
Jesus’ authority to act as judge rests upon His humanity as the Son of Man. This judgment must rely on the fact that He is the God-man.
27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also,
The Father gave the incarnate Christ authority to execute judgment. The “judgment” here has to do with authority over everything in government on earth. The Father made Him King Jesus to rule the world.
because
The Father granted authority to Jesus due to His taking on humanity. Jesus can judge humans from the human point of view. That makes Him a genuine mediator. However, it is not only His humanity but His deity that is involved in His mediatorship.
He is the Son of Man.
“Son of Man” is a messianic title that occurs 12 times in John and over 80 times in all four gospels. This is an official title. This term refers to the humanity of Christ as the Messiah. He completely participated in humanity.
Jesus’ authority to judge rests on His role as “the Son of Man” or the Messiah. It is the Son of Man who will judge in the final day. Jesus is the God-man. As such He represents both God and man.
PRINCIPLE:
The Father gave the authority to the Son of Man to judge the world because He is fully God.
APPLICATION:
The person of Christ was called both the Son of God and the Son of Man. Jesus, as the Son of Man, received unique ability to judge. This judgment relates to those who reject revelation (Jn 3:19; 8:16; 12:31; 16:8, 11). Men love darkness rather than light. Jesus is both the Son of God and the Son of Man. As a man, Jesus died on the cross.
Since Jesus was judged for the sin of mankind, He is qualified to judge mankind. The right to judge was given to Him as the Son of Man, as the Messiah.
Thank u for the revelation teaching why Jesus was Son of God and also Son of Man…..
Loved it and learned something I wont forget….
