10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”

10 called [saluted, designated] by God as High Priest

The Father’s calling of Christ as High Priest is an example of those who apply truth to their lives. Our High Priest understands our suffering. He can empathize with it. He will make “mercy” and “grace” available to those who suffer because of His priesthood experience.

“according to the order of Melchizedek,”

The Father saluted Christ as a priest of a special order. This was a unique order of priesthood. It did not involve hereditary succession of priesthood like Aaron’s priesthood. Only Christ belonged to this “order.”

Jesus is the only person who could meditate between man and God

It was upon Christ being “made perfect” for His role as High Priest and becoming “the Author of eternal salvation” that the Father saluted Him. He designated Him “High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.” This took place after His resurrection. The Father greeted Him as the only person who could mediate between Himself and mankind (1 Ti 2:5).
