5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
5 Let your conduct [manner of life]
“Conduct” means manner of life. Our conduct comes from our judgment; our judgment comes from biblical truth or doctrine. There is no such thing as proper conduct without doctrine.
PRINCIPLE:
Our values and faith regulate our lives.
APPLICATION:
What we believe determines what we are; what we are determines what we do. Biblical Christianity has standards of conduct based on its unique truth. It does not rest on personal judgment, perspective, or opinion. That kind of thinking is relative ethics, not biblical truth. Christian living does not rely on feelings or individual bias. Situational ethics is not ethics at all because it does not have a foundation that transcends the individual.
