16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
16 But
The sacrifice of praise with the lips is not enough. Christians should “do good” and “share” our resources with others.
do not forget to do good
It is possible for people who worship to neglect the practical help of others.
and to share,
“Share” here is to give to others financially. The Macedonian church had a heart for giving to fellow churches (2 Co 8:3–4).
for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
God is pleased with this kind of sacrifice, the believer-priest praise to God, rather than the Old Testament system.
PRINCIPLE:
Every Christian has a priestly role.
APPLICATION:
As a priest, every Christian has direct access to God through his High Priest, Jesus Christ.
Belief and deed are inseparable. Lip service without expression in a tangible way is disjoint of biblical truth. Tangible help, the financial help of other Christians, is an outcome of our worship.
