8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

Verses 8-11 argue the superiority of the New Covenant. The glory of the imparted Spirit is more glorious than the glory of Moses’ Law (1 Co 3:16; 6:19). Although the Old Covenant was glorious, the New Covenant was more glorious. The New is more glorious because it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit and grace (Ga 4:4-7).

Glory is a continuity between the Old and New Covenants. Both ministries originate from the glory of God.

PRINCIPLE:

Those who opt for the glory of the Law diminish the glory of grace.

APPLICATION:

One cannot choose both Law and grace at the same time. One will render the other inoperative. Grace incorporates the vital purpose of the Law while rendering its ability to transform unworkable. There is a clear difference between the “glory” of the two.
