Read Introduction to 2 Corinthians

6 So we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete this grace in you as well.

Verse 6 turns to the Corinthian opportunity to give.

6 So we urged Titus,

Paul took the initiative to send Titus to finish the Corinthian church collection for the Jerusalem church.

that as he had begun,

Titus had attempted to encourage the Corinthian church to give to the Jerusalem church previously. The collection had begun about one year prior. The task was not finished.

so he would also complete this grace in you as well.

The Corinthian church of the province of Achaia was wealthy compared to their northern fellow Greeks in Macedonia. A church of such capacity should finish the need for collecting for the Jerusalem saints.

PRINCIPLE:

Grace is the essence of giving with alacrity.

APPLICATION:

We evaluate a gift to Christ according to its size. God measures it according to the ending balance. The widow who gave her all in the gospels was someone who gave by her ending balance.
