10 I will also bring them back from the land of Egypt, And gather them from Assyria. I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon, Until no more room is found for them. 11 He shall pass through the sea with affliction, And strike the waves of the sea: All the depths of the River shall dry up. Then the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, And the scepter of Egypt shall depart. 12 “So I will strengthen them in the Lord, And they shall walk up and down in His name,” Says the Lord.
The Messiah will bring Israel back to her land (Zech 10:10) and remove any impediment in her way (Zech 10:11).
10:10
I will also bring them back from the land of Egypt, And gather them from Assyria.
Egypt and Assyria represent Israel’s worldwide dispersion and are a symbolic image of Israel’s return to the land.
I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon,
Gilead was the eastern and Lebanon the northern boundary of the nation Israel. These geographical indications show the larger confines of Palestine embracing the full extent of the Abrahamic Covenant (Ge 15:18), the Palestinian Covenant (Deut 30:3-5), and the Davidic Covenant (2 Sam 7:16; Ps 89:30-37).
Until no more room is found for them.
The growth in the population of Israel will be so significant that there will not be enough land for them all (Isa 49:20-22; 54:1-3).
10:11
He shall pass through the sea with affliction, And strike the waves of the sea: All the depths of the River shall dry up.
The Messiah will remove all obstacles for Israel’s return to the land. Jehovah will subject the sea so that Israel can return to her nation or the kingdom of Christ. It will be no obstacle to Israel’s return to the land. He will do what He did previously by dividing the waters so Israel could return to her land in the Millennium.
Then the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, And the scepter of Egypt shall depart.
Jehovah will condemn the pride of the nation Assyria—that is, their military might. Egypt and Assyria represent nations to which God dispersed His people.
10:12
“So I will strengthen them [Israel] in the Lord,
God will strengthen Israel in the manifested power of Jehovah. Israel will live under the protection of God Himself.
And they shall walk up and down in His name,”
Israel’s walk with God will be “in His name” because she will glorify Him as a national entity.
Says the Lord.
These words are the divine seal that assures the certainty of God’s promises. The entire panorama of His promises will become a fact.
PRINCIPLE:
Israel will have freedom and liberty during the Millennial reign of Christ.
APPLICATION:
Christians have liberty and freedom as they walk in the Spirit. When they do, the glory of the Lord will permeate the world. The ultimate purpose of creation is that God’s glory is manifest to everyone. Everyone will see it individually, spiritually, governmentally, politically, and in national entities.
