Read Introduction to Zechariah

20 In that day “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” shall be engraved on the bells of the horses. The pots in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar. 21 Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holiness to the Lord of hosts. Everyone who sacrifices shall come and take them and cook in them. In that day there shall no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.

The Millennium will be characterized by holiness (Zech 14:20-21). Holiness will distinguish Israel as a high-priestly nation.

14:20

In that day “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” shall be engraved on the bells of the horses. The pots [cooking] in the Lord’s house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

The Millennial reign of Christ will fulfill the remaining elements of “In that day.” The first element was the Tribulation, and the second the reign of Christ

Holiness will characterize the Messiah’s kingdom, whether in the public life where horses will wear an engraving called “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” or in religious life where ordinary cooking pots will be deemed to have the status of sacrificial vessels of the altar (Ex 28:36).

14:21

Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holiness to the Lord of hosts. Everyone who sacrifices shall come and take them and cook in them.

The implication that “every pot” is holiness to the LORD of hosts is the elimination of the distinction between sacred and secular.

In that day there shall no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.

The “Canaanite” represents all Gentiles and things ceremonially unclean. The LORD of hosts (armies) will establish everything as holy.

PRINCIPLE:

Everything will revolve around the Messiah’s holiness in the Millennium.

APPLICATION:

One day God will deliver the nation Israel completely. God has not abandoned His promises. He is faithful to His people. Should people go astray from the principles of the kingdom, the Messiah will deal with that directly. He will exercise His administration by grace, but if people reject that grace, the Lord has no other alternative but to discipline those in rebellion.
