Read Introduction to Acts

17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.

Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers,

While waiting for Silas and Timothy to come from Macedonia, Paul preached in the Athenian synagogue, where both Jews and Gentiles attended. The Jews knew the Old Testament and could interact with Paul about whether Jesus was the Messiah.

The “worshipers” were either Gentile proselytes to Judaism or Gentiles interested in the Jewish religion.

PRINCIPLE:

Religious people need the gospel.

APPLICATION:

We live in a day where many experience evangelicalism but have never placed their faith in Christ. Their engagement with Christians is strictly cultural. They enjoy the environment of genuine Christians, but they themselves have never made it personal.
