Verse 7 promises to give insight to those who study the Bible. God illuminates what He reveals in Scripture.

Consider what I say,
Paul here directly appealed to Timothy to pay careful attention to the force of his instructions derived from the three previous illustrations of the soldier, athlete, and farmer.
and may the Lord give you understanding [insight] in all things.
Paul requested the Lord to give Timothy understanding and judgment in ministry.
PRINCIPLE:
Soldiers, athletes, and farmers have one thing in common: There is a reward at the end of their efforts.
APPLICATION:
All three roles of soldier, athlete, and farmer require single-mindedness. All believers must consider what it means to be a servant of Christ. If they do, then the Lord will do His part in giving them insight “in all things” on how to execute ministry. They will primarily obtain insight into what God says in His Word if they “consider” apostolic teaching.
If a minister is to understand the written Word of God, he must apply himself to study it. Regarding what may not be immediately evident, God will show him the truth.
