Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
After Zechariah’s wife Elizabeth conceived, she went into seclusion for five months.

“Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
Elizabeth expressed her thankfulness to the Lord for taking away her reproach of not having a baby.
PRINCIPLE:
Acknowledgment of God’s action upon us is an expression of faith.
APPLICATION:
The birth of John the Baptist was a fulfillment of a prophecy that a forerunner of the Messiah would come (Jn 1:29). Zechariah first responded in unbelief, but his wife Elizabeth responded by belief. She expressed her appreciation for what God did for her with thanksgiving and praise.
