21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 22 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” 23 Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; 24 for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.”

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said,
Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit. His joy centered on the Father’s willingness and the Spirit’s power to provide revelation to the Seventy.
“I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.
Beginning with verse 21, Jesus pronounced a blessing on the Seventy. He prayed to God, who was over all creation. He thanked God that He gave revelation to the Seventy. They were not the wise and learned of the nation but simple followers of Jesus.
10:22
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son,
Jesus is the means of revelation from the Father (Mt 28:18). The Father placed “all things” under the authority of Jesus. He became the Father’s instrument of salvation. No one knows the Father like Him. As well, the Father knows Jesus like no other. Jesus is the unique Son of God.
and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”
Jesus is the Father’s means of revelation. Revelation is truth not discernible by human means; it comes from the Son who chooses to disclose it. The Father placed His authority in the Son; the Son, in turn, reveals the Father to others. The Son is the source of revelation (Jn 14:6). Jesus’ authority extended to His disciples who shared His message.
10:23
Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see;
The Seventy experienced a special blessing because they personally witnessed Jesus’ ministry among them.
10:24
for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.”
Jesus tells the Seventy that prophets and kings in the Old Testament desired to see what they saw. The ambassadors of Jesus were eyewitnesses of Jesus the Messiah. These men had witnessed the coming of the King and His kingdom. They had a blessing that no previous generation had ever experienced.
PRINCIPLE:
The centrality of Christ is essential in ministry.
APPLICATION:
Jesus was the unique Son of God, with a unique relation to the Father. Many prophets and kings of the Old Testament longed to see the day when the Messiah would come. With Jesus, a new age had begun; the kingdom had come.
