Jesus began to descend the Mount of Olives. He encountered His disciples before entering the city, shouting praise with loud voices for all Jesus’ miracles.

saying: “ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Many of Jesus’ followers began to chant the words of Psalm 118:26. The phrase “peace in heaven” indicated that God’s plan for Jesus’ death and resurrection had been fulfilled. The original thought was of the king leading pilgrims to the temple. This occasion was a prophecy of hope; hope because the King had come. This thought is a picture of Jesus’ Davidic connection, from which Jesus’ inheritance as King originated. The people saw Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem as King to be fulfillment of prophecy.
PRINCIPLE:
The triumphal entry was a plain announcement by Jesus that He is the Messiah.
APPLICATION:
Jesus entered Jerusalem as a King, God’s chosen King; He was a royal person entering the royal city. Yet He came as Savior, who would suffer, die, and rise from the dead. He was the glory of God’s plan of salvation.
